Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for PC/Windows with Adapter

If you arrived here you are probably researching where to get the best Xbox 360 Wireless Controller that will work with your PC/Windows. You might have seen that some people say you need an adapter, and others say you don’t. Well, the short answer is you do. Read our review below to know see which one we recommend purchasing and know that it will work right out of the box. Beware of some of the controllers at Best Buy. Not just every controller will work with your PC.

Of course the controller we are recommending is Black. Who doesn’t like black?

We recommend buying the one from here for $39.99.

What does this come with?

We did a little unboxing so you can see exactly that the product on Amazon comes with.

It includes the wireless adapter (30-foot range), two double AA batteries, the controller and an instruction manual.

Setup on PC

Once you have the controller, plug in the wireless adapter. Hold the Xbox controller button to turn on the controller. If you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8 it will begin installing the controller software/driver. Simply follow the prompts and then click Finish.

Software Recommendation

With FPS games the controller on the PC works great right out of the box. If you are playing other games, for example, we play Guild Wars 2 with a controller. For this you will want some modifications and programming of the buttons. We highly recommend Xpadder. It costs $9.99 but it is worth every penny if you need to customize your controls. Later on we will be posting our GW2 Xpadder profiles for you to download and try yourself!
