Zune Marketplace is Slow – Quick Fix

If you are reading this then you are probably wondering why our Zune Marketplace is so slow even though you have a fast internet connection. Well, this seems to have been a bug ever since the software came out; and it seems to be random.

Slow Zune Marketplace

Here is the fix.

Step 1

Launch Internet Explorer. And go to “Internet Options.” In this example I am using IE9. It is pretty much the same for IE7, IE8, and IE9.

IE9 - Internet Options

Step 2

Click on the Connections tab and then “LAN Settings.”

IE9 - Lan Settings

Step 3

Most likely you have “Automatically detect settings” checked. If it is, uncheck it, and hit OK.

IE9 - Automatically Detect Settings

Step 4

Now browse the Zune Marketplace and it should be a lot faster!

  • This might fix the problem but it’s not a solution for everyone. Most corporate environments lock down or limit configuration changes of LAN settings in IE.
