Increase Your Internet Speed with Open DNS

Hello guys. In this article we will show you how to increase your internet speed for free by using Open DNS. DNS is a domain name server. It translates a domain name like or into an IP address. The faster your DNS translator is, the faster your surfing will be on the internet.

Normally, your ISP provides you with your DNS server and it’s relatively fast, but there are some faster ones out there and they are called Open DNS servers. So, we are going to show you how to change your DNS server to Open DNS one and see if it’s faster for you.

Let’s go ahead and move your cursor to the task bar here. Left click on the WI-FI icon and then click on Open Network and Sharing Center.

Once that window is open, left click on your connection and go down to Properties.

Find TCP/IPv4, select it and go to Properties. Here we can change the DNS server automatically or manually use server addresses.

You should enter IP address as a preferred DNS server. In the alternate DNS server it is going to be Double check those numbers and once you have them correct, then you can go down and click OK.

Now, we can go ahead and close everything out here.

We are now using the new Open DNS servers and we can test our surfing response time. Open up one of your browsers and go to Hope that it was a relatively fast response and you found that very acceptable.
