Favicons missing in Opera 11

opera

I have started to use Opera 11 and noticed that in my bookmarks bar that no favicons were showing up. After a little digging I discovered what the problem was. Follow the instructions below to fix it.

Step 1

(Assuming you are running Windows 7) Browse to your local app folder:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera or
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Opera\Opera 11.10 beta

Opera App Data

Step 2

Now delete the “icons” folder.

Step 3

Go back to Opera 11 and try browsing to a website that is on your bookmarks bar. After a few seconds the favicon show now show up.

The fix described will have no effect if there are no bookmarked favorites to begin with. As I’m using a few browsers for development purposes, this doesn’t help me @ all. Is there a force method like there is with IE?

Went ahead and tried it again after bookmarking sites – STILL no dice. I’m a Windows 7 x64 Premium user and there are still no displayed favicons to be seen in any of the bookmarked sites. Sorry, this didn’t work for me @ all.

I can no longer reproduce this error. I installed Opera 12 and seems like they have fixed some of the favicon problems. I would suggest uninstalling Opera 11, if that is the version you are running… Run CCleaner, and delete any folders related to Opera. Then do a fresh install of Opera 12.
