Disk space is one of the least expensive things you can buy right now, however putting that disk space to good use is a totally different story, especially for small businesses without the infrastructure to build upon.

One way to get around this is by using self-contained storage like the new ShareCenter + 4-Bay Cloud Network Storage Enclosure (DNS-340L) from D-Link, a solution which offers high performance great energy efficiency in a small, self-contained package.

The DNS-340L was created with small and medium sized businesses in mind, especially those looking for powerful shared storage which can create its own local cloud. It comes with applications which allow the device to be used as backup with D-Link ShareCenter Sync, as well as storage, media and print serving, FTP server, and much more.

The system can be used together with D-Link Cloud Cameras and the fully integrated Surveillance Center application, making it a great tool for video-surveillance with its four free channels.

In terms of technical specs, it features a 1.2 GHz CPU and 512 MB of RAM, as well as four hot-swappable drive bays with built-in iSCSI target support, and seven RAID configurations (JBOD, RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 1+0).

The DNS-340L supports 3.5″ internal SATA, SATA II and SATA III drives with capacities of 4 TB or above, and also includes two gigabit Ethernet ports, one USB 3.0 port, and two USB 2.0 ports. With regards to power consumption, it uses up 57.3 watts in normal mode, which goes down to 23.2 watts in sleep mode.
