“Access Denied” Error After Windows 8 Upgrade


During my upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 I received an “Access Denied” error on my secondary storage drive. Easy and quick fix below.

Fix “Access Denied” Error

Step 1

Right click on your second hard drive and go to properties.

Step 2

Go to the “Security” tab.

Step 3

Click on the “Advanced” button.

Step 4

Then click on “Change” next to owner and type in the “administrators” group. Click OK and then check the “Replace all child object permissions entries and inheritable permission entries from this object.”

Also check “Replace owner on subcontainers and objects” at the top.

Hit Apply and you should be good to go!
